Buy Irish art/ arts experiences this Christmas!
It's Christmas and here at the Campaign we would like to encourage you to buy Irish art/ arts experiences
Here are some examples:
• You can buy some Irish art via the network of galleries around the country.
• Most theatres, arts centres and festivals sell gift tokens – give the gift of theatre, dance, comedy, opera this Christmas.
• Sign yourself or a family member up as a friend of any of the festivals, venues, galleries or production companies around the country. Apart from ticket reductions and opening night packages you will be helping these organisations to survive.
• When buying books – support Irish authors
• Buy/rent Irish films over Xmas.
We haven't given any specific examples/ links as there really are too many to mention but if you would like to post a link or idea as a comment please do go ahead!

I do cheaper alternatives that are not yet advertised on the website…much less detail involved. Owing to the nature of the work I need plenty of time for an order, so it may be a little late for some folk!
Well done by the way and the best of luck to you for the Christmas season.

Another idea that wasn’t mentioned: You can commission your own painting either through a gallery or direct from the artist. Whilst it costs no more than buying off-the-shelf, it’s much more personal to you. My website http://www.bobgravenor.com explains how this can work, and shows examples. Many other artists also accept commissions. Who/What would YOU like a painting of?

In the UK the Arts Council run a scheme through Galleries called OWN ART.
Throught his scheme people can purchase art over 10 months in installments interest free. There is a credit limit of £2000 per person. The Arts Council organise the credit and computer program it is run through. The Gallery is paid straight away less 1% commission and the customer takes the piece of art after the paperwork is comleted.
Why is there no scheme like that in Ireland? It encourages people to purchase art that would not normally buy.
